Terms of Use

The agreement for using this site

These terms govern your use of pist.com.pk and the services on it — the public verification portal, the student portal, the institute (ATP) portal and everything published here.

They are written plainly on purpose. Using this website means you accept them; if you do not, please do not use the site. They sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information, and our regulations, which govern examinations and awards.

Last updated: 23 August 2026.

Section 1

Who these terms are with

This website is operated by the Pakistan Institution of Sciences and Technology (PIST), an institution registered under Act XXI of 1860 (the Societies Registration Act, 1860) and recognised by the Government of Punjab. Where these terms say “we”, “us” or “PIST”, they mean that institution, acting through its governing body and offices.

Where they say “you”, they mean anyone using the site: a student, a parent, an affiliated institute, an employer checking a document, or a visitor reading a page.

Section 2

Using this website

You may read, print and share the content of this site for your own information, and you may use the verification portal freely to check documents. In return we ask that you do not do the following.

2.1No automated harvesting. Do not scrape, bulk-download or systematically query the verification portal. It exists so a person can check a document in front of them, not to be copied wholesale. We rate-limit requests and may block addresses that ignore this.
2.2No attempt to break in. Do not attempt to gain access to any account, portal or record that is not yours, or to probe, scan or interfere with the site’s security. Responsible security disclosures are welcome — see our security contact.
2.3No impersonation. Do not present yourself as PIST, as an affiliated institute, or as another student, and do not reproduce our name, logo or documents in a way that suggests an association we have not granted.
2.4Accurate information. Information you submit — on an application, a request or a form — must be true and yours to give. Awards obtained on false information are liable to be withdrawn.

Section 3

Accounts and portals

Student portal

Your account is personal to you. Keep your password to yourself, and tell your institute at once if you think someone else has used it. You can end every other session yourself from your profile.

Institute (ATP) portal

An affiliated institute is responsible for everything done under its account, including by its own staff sub-users, and for the accuracy of the records it submits.

Verification portal

Open to everyone, no account needed. It confirms only what the document in your hand already states. See the Verification Policy for what an award does and does not certify.

Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms, and may withdraw an award obtained through misrepresentation. Where we do, we say why.

Section 4

Documents, content and intellectual property

The text, design, logo, course material and documents published on this site belong to PIST unless stated otherwise. You may print and share them for personal or informational use; you may not republish them commercially, or alter them and present the result as ours.

Certificates, marks certificates and letters issued by PIST remain PIST documents. The award belongs to the holder, but the document is issued from our register and may be withdrawn if it was obtained improperly. Reproducing, altering or forging one is a serious matter and, where appropriate, a criminal one.

Every document carries a Log Number, a QR code and an authenticity signature so that any recipient can confirm it independently. Altering a single printed detail causes the signature to stop matching our register — see the Verification Policy.

Section 5

Affiliated institutes

These provisions apply to institutes affiliated with PIST as Approved Training Partners, in addition to the affiliation agreement itself.

5.1Only what it can deliver. An institute will offer only those disciplines and trainings it can properly manage itself, or in collaboration with another institution capable of doing so.
5.2Records are the institute’s duty. It is the responsibility of the institute to keep all educational and professional records of its students, and to submit accurate particulars to PIST.
5.3Represent the affiliation accurately. An institute may state that it is affiliated with PIST for the programmes it is approved to deliver — not more. Affiliation status can be checked by anyone on the institute verification page.
5.4Fees. Fees payable to PIST are separate from any fee an institute charges its own students. PIST is not party to that arrangement and does not collect or refund it.

Section 6

What we do not promise

We take care over what is published here, but some things are outside our control and we want to be straightforward about them.

6.1Attestation by others. PIST is not responsible for the attestation of its documents by any agency, ministry or embassy in Pakistan or abroad. Verification by us confirms authenticity; attestation is a separate process the holder must pursue.
6.2Acceptance by third parties. We cannot guarantee that a particular employer, university or authority will accept a PIST award for a particular purpose. That decision belongs to them.
6.3Employment. Nothing on this site is a promise of a job, a salary or a visa. Course pages describe what is taught, not what will follow.
6.4Availability. We aim to keep the site and its portals available, but they may be interrupted for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. Verification results are given as they stand in the register at the time of the request.
6.5Other websites. Where we link out, we are not responsible for the content or practices of the site you arrive at.

Sections 7–9

Privacy, changes and governing law

Privacy. What personal information we hold, why, and what you can ask us to do with it is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes. We may update these terms as the institution or the law changes. The revision date at the top of this page always shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after that means accepting the revision.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If part of this fails. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to verify a document? +
No. The verification portal is open to everyone and needs no account. It confirms only what the document already states.
Can I use PIST’s logo on my institute’s material? +
Only if you are an affiliated institute, only for the programmes you are approved to deliver, and only in the way the affiliation agreement permits. Ask us first if you are unsure.
Is PIST responsible for attesting my certificate? +
No. We verify authenticity; attestation by a ministry, board or embassy is a separate process, and PIST is not responsible for attestation carried out by any agency.
What happens if I share my portal password? +
You remain responsible for what is done with your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and sign out of all other devices from your profile, then tell your institute.
Can an award be taken back? +
Yes, where it was obtained through false information or misrepresentation. A withdrawn award still appears in verification, marked as withdrawn, so an old printed copy cannot be relied on.
